It's not only one's position for or against something that makes a difference, what's truly important is that everyone takes part in the (interpersonal) conversations. The truth, what works for all concerned, eventually prevails.

A conversation in your mind has as much an effect as a conversation with another. The way you communicate with yourself (intrapersonal) is having an enormous effect.
